Minecraft: Pocket Edition, developed by Mojang AB, is the mobile version of Minecraft that released for Android and iOS devices in November 2011. The objective of the game is the same as the original PC and Console Edition counterparts, where players build virtual realities in a sandbox-like environment. Pocket Edition lacks certain survival elements present in the other versions of the game, but offers a multiplayer mode that is cross-platform between Android and iOS devices.
What's the difference between Creative and Survival Modes?
Creative mode is primarily for players who want to create their virtual masterpiece free of monsters. Player have unlimited resources and a sun that never sets. Very similar to the Sims, the Creative mode offers a relaxed environment to craft and create to your heart's content. Survival mode is exactly as it sounds. A lot harder than the Survivor Realty show, you struggle from the start with nothing but your bare hands. If you want the full Minecraft experience, Survival mode is the best option. What to do first: gather resources

Initially, you will be stumped on what to do first in your new world. You have to gather resources to build a shelter before the sun sets (if you're playing Survivor Mode). Harvest blocks of wood from trees, dirt from soil and sand blocks from sand by punching your environment. Once you've gathered ample amounts of resources, you're ready to start crafting. If you're playing survival, don't get carried away with farming for resources. You're racing against the setting sun, and those who fail to plan will fail.
What to build with your gathered resources?
You need the resources harvested to build even simple things such as tools and work tables.From the menu bar, select the Craft menu and create a Crafting Table. You'll have a hard time creating tools without one. You'll only need one since they are reusable. To create a Crafting table, create some wooden planks and an option will appear for the table. Once you have the Crafting table, create a few tools such as a wooden axe. You can break through stone a lot faster with a pickaxe than you can with your hands. After you've harvested some stone blocks, create some stone tools on your Crafting table. You'll need to create the Pickaxe to harvest important resources such as coal.
Why is coal a valuable resource?
Once you've created your pickaxe, you'll want to harvest coal as soon as possible. Use the stone pickaxe in order to break through stone and get to coal. In most instances, you can see speckled rock, which indicates coal may be present. To avoid disappointment, we suggest digging downwards at least five blocks into stone with the stone pickaxe. Start digging in areas where stone meets dirt and grass to yield coal quickly. You'll need the coal harvested to prepare for nightfall.
Preparing for nightfall: creating a shelter
You've been gathering and crafting items for a while. You're probably asking yourself to what end. Make sure you've harvested an ample amount of wood and coal. You'll need to craft torches to keep the monsters and mobs away that come out at night. It's nearly impossible to have enough time to build a house for protection on your first day (unless you're an experience player). Instead, dig a cutout into the stone that you can hold up in. Doesn't have to be elaborate, just about eight or 10 blocks deep and then a corner to stay out of sight. Torches keep mobs and monsters away, so be sure you've crafted some and stick a few near the entrance to your cave.
You'll survive the night if you've successfully avoided the urge to dig. You don't want to literally dig yourself into a hole you can't get out of. Keeping sufficient resources on hand will enable you to craft more elaborate items to eventually build a home. Some items are reusable, so make sure you collect them before you move on. In the beginning, be sure to re-use your Crafting table so you don't have to keep creating more. To break a Crafting table down, just punch it until it breaks and collect the resources. If you follow this guide closely, you won't have any trouble succeeding in getting through your first day in Minecraft Pocket Edition.
